One Overseas

So with this fabulous, glamorous new job flying high in the skies one would expect me to write about all my adventures overseas, instead you get to read about Winnipeg, and wait for it, soon photos of Halifax!! I did get lucky, I did receive one flight overseas....to Tel Aviv!! It was wonderful, they even let me sit in the cockpit for landing in Tel Aviv.

Here are a bunch of photos taken from my 23hr layover. I tried to pack in as much as I could given the time. I really wanted to go to Jerusalem, but had no one to go with, so opted to stick with my tour guide (my Service Director on the flight) and he took me for a scenic walk, to the outdoor market, then they all went back to the hotel.

I continued on, walked along the beach to the old city of Jaffa. It used to be the port city before Tel Aviv became the megacity it is today. Now, Jaffa is the Muslim quarter. It's beautiful, lots of mosques, old structures with great architectural details to them, the old clock tower in the middle of the square. It's really quite a nice journey through the area. I returned to the hotel, walking along the beach to eat a watermelon I had purchased at the market. Afterwards, since I missed the dinner meeting time with everyone else and it was still early, I decided to go for a little walk around the hotel in search of a supermarket. I eventually came across one and serendipitously met everyone from the dinner gang! It was good, a few of us continued on for a little nightcap at a cafe, then returned to the hotel around midnight.

In the hallway to my room, I bumped into another flight attendant, Merav, who was on her way out to the chocolate bar, Max Brenner. I joined and it was great! I have never seen a chocolate - CHOCOLATE - place be the hippest bar in town! It was super cool. We walked back along the beach, everyone smoking their hookahs along the boardwalk. Tel Aviv, it's a beautiful place.
